Unity, pt. 1
Episode 135: Anti- Church. Non-institutional. Institutional. It is interesting the way we in the churches of Christ talk about one another. The root of these monikers is…division. The very thing Jesus prayed against (John 17) is the very thing we cling to with our pet doctrines and institutional affiliations. Tune in as I talk about the need for unity.
Question of the Day: Is the Devil real?
10 Political Things You Can’t Do While Following Jesus
Episode 134: Once again, Mark Sandlin is at it again with a recently published article about political things Christians cannot do if they claim to follow Jesus. In my humble opinion, you can’t claim to follow Jesus and support this liberal progressive agenda, but I try to find what few redeeming qualities I can. Tune in and see what you think concerning Mr. Sandlin’s assessment.
Question of the Day: Do you need to be baptized to be saved? What about the thief on the cross?
10 Things You Can’t Do While Following Jesus
Episode 133: Presbyterian minister Mark Sandlin recently published an article entitled “10 Thing You Can’t Do While Following Jesus.” In today’s episode I walk through the article point-by-point and offer agreement or disagreement with Biblical passages. Tune in to see where you fall with Mr. Sandlin’s points.
Question of the Day: Can we pray to Jesus?
What Children Need
Episode 131: Recently, a post of a blog was published (see below) listing four (4) ways to encourage children to leave the church. Very provocative, it was written with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but it go me thinking, what do children need from parents? I run quickly down a list of several spiritual resources children need from parents in today’s episode.
Modern-Day Apostles
Episode 128: So some religious groups claim to have modern-day apostles – Mormons stand out as the main group, but some Catholics do and you can tune into Apostle Fredrick K.C. Price each week on TV. Even some in the church of Christ are moving toward a theology which has modern-day apostles (See “Rethinking Apostleship” below). However, the main position of members of the church of Christ has been that there are no apostles today (See “Are There Modern-Day Apostles” below). Today my friend and brother Sean Andrews joins me to discuss this subject.
Egalitarianism
Episode 120: Last week I exposed the insidious plot of some brethren who want to have female keynotes are lectureships. I call it insidious because their movements seem stealth and covert – as though they want to infiltrate. Tune in today as I identify the problem with their exegesis of Galatians 3.28 and why it works against them. Also discover the proper attitude we should have toward what God has said concerning women in the assembly.
One Church
Episode 119: Jesus only built one church and yet there are tons of churches all over. Are all churches the same? Is one church as good as another? Tune in to find out about the one church Jesus built and the unique plea the church of Christ makes today.
